Obligatory first post

Each year, at about Thanksgiving, I start wondering if we will send out a Christmas card, and if so, will we do a yearly update sort of card. Then I try to remember back through the year all the happenings, and all of a sudden it's Valentine's day, and way past the time to send Christmas cards. That, or I write up a newsletter, and then agonize over whether or not to send it out via the mail (and thus keep my mom and other postmasters in business), or send out via a blog post (and thus save ourselves some time and money). Either way, Christmas cards rarely get sent...until now. I've figured out a way to try to keep people up to date, and also keep the post office up and running for a couple more years. Throughout the year (not every day...but more like every so often), I will write a little family update on the old blog, and then at the end of the year, we can send out a little Christmas postcard or family picture via the mail, and with it send a link to the blog (or this year, it will probably be birth announcements...by Thanksgiving). Everyone wins.

As always with blogs, I assume this one will start out strong, and then taper off into a once a month or so pattern. And then I will feel guilty and blog a lot again, and then it will taper off again. Such is life. The blog will mostly be updates of what we're doing, where we are, what's new, etc. Maybe a picture or two, maybe not. You know, the makings of a Christmas newsletter.

Enjoy!
